Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Oil Genie, operated by Lean Engineering.
1. What Oil Genie is
Oil Genie is an informational forecasting and competition platform for crude oil markets. It lets you record price forecasts, compare them against published settlement data and compete on an accuracy leaderboard.
Oil Genie is not a broker, exchange, investment adviser or trading venue. No order can be placed, and no money is ever traded, through this platform.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate registration details and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. One account per person; duplicate accounts created to manipulate the leaderboard may be removed.
3. Forecasts and competition conduct
Forecast submissions close 15 minutes before the modelled market open and consensus data is revealed 10 minutes before it. Attempting to bypass those windows, automate mass submissions, or coordinate with other accounts to distort consensus or rankings is prohibited.
Scores, points, ranks and badges are awarded by automated settlement against published settlement prices. We may recalculate or void results affected by faulty data or abuse.
4. Memberships
Membership tiers control how many open forecasts you may hold at once and which analytics you can access. Tier limits are shown on the membership page and enforced at submission time.
Paid billing is not live yet. Until it is, membership changes made in the app are simulated and no payment is taken. When billing launches, pricing, renewal and cancellation terms will be presented before any charge.
5. Acceptable use
Do not scrape, reverse engineer, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform or other traders' data. Do not post unlawful, abusive or misleading content, including handles impersonating other people or firms.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, and remove content or leaderboard entries at our discretion.
6. Data and market information
Market data, indicators, inventory figures and report calendars are sourced from third parties and may be delayed, incomplete or revised. Freshness indicators in the app are guidance only.
Automated forecasts are model output derived from historical price behaviour and momentum. They are not predictions of fact.
7. No financial advice and limitation of liability
Nothing on Oil Genie is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any instrument. See the risk disclosure for detail.
The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law we are not liable for trading losses, lost profits, or indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
8. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be signalled in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
